If you’re a digital artist, you already know you work hard on your craft. You probably also know about late hours, making ends meet, and pushing through pain or creative block.
But do you really know how your work can cost you your health? Most artists don’t. They brush off pain or art block as “part of the job” until it harms their longterm mental and physical wellbeing.
Artists are stretched thin by long hours, unpaid overtime, gig work, and even social attitudes about creative jobs. The results create mental and physical health hazards. Working in place for long hours, awkward postures, and repetitive motions cause injuries and disorders. Worse, my research found that burnout is linked to the same serious diseases as being an artist – like musculoskeletal disorders and cardiovascular disease. We have to ask why.
The Resilient Artist’s mission is to empower artists to notice occupational strain and readjust, giving you tools for a longer, healthier career.
After all, your work is essential to the human experience.
